How a Capfin loan helped Mavuma build her mother’s a new home
Mavuma Fezeka's inspiring journey towards realising her vision of building her mother a new home showcases the power of determination and love. Discover how an accessible Capfin loan for home improvements helped Mavuma create a lasting impact that will benefit her family for years to come. Her story encourages others to never give up on their ambition.
Mavuma Fezeka, a 43-year-old woman from the Eastern Cape, grew up in a rural community that shaped her. With determination and resilience, Mavuma's mother made significant changes in her life to support her children's education and future.
These experiences instilled in Mavuma a strong sense of determination and a desire to give back to her mother. "It was my wish to make my mom smile by building her the home she deserves," Mavuma shares, reflecting on her goal to improve her family's living situation one day.
Navigating opportunities to set her goals in motion
After completing grade 12 with excellent results, Mavuma's family relocated to Mount Fletcher. Mavuma found work as a domestic worker and later as a cashier at a Boxer retail store. She continued to apply for bursaries and eventually received one to study towards a four-year nursing diploma.
While working at Boxer, Mavuma managed to save whatever money she could afford to build a small two-bedroom house for her family, which had grown to eight members. Determined to realise her wish to make her mother smile and to see her taking a bath or a shower in a home with flowing water, Mavuma decided to take out a loan for home improvement to build her mother the house she'd always wanted.
Capfin transforms Mavuma’s vision into reality
After seeing an advertisement for Capfin loans in a PEP store, Mavuma inquired about the application process. “I asked the cashier how I could take out a Capfin loan, and she advised me to return the following day with my bank statements and payslips, saying she would help me start my application and email the documents.”
With the help of a cashier, Mavuma submitted her documents and application the following day, and within 15 minutes, she received an SMS stating that Capfin would call her back. “The next day, a Capfin representative called and approved my application for a small loan, which I used to buy bricks and building materials for the four-bedroom house I envisioned, complete with a kitchen, lounge, and bathroom.”
As construction progressed, Mavuma took out additional loans for home improvement with Capfin to purchase more materials. She found the application and approval process straightforward, eventually being able to complete the entire process of completing the application and submitting the required documentation from her phone.
“Today, the house is almost complete, with only a few windows and doors remaining. My mother, though now battling high blood pressure, is smiling because she can see my tireless efforts and all that we’ve accomplished, especially considering that I’m the only working family member.”
Mavuma’s inspiring message to other dreamers
Mavuma's message to others in a similar situation is to never give up on their goals, no matter how challenging life becomes. "I would tell those people to never give up on their ambitions or let them fade. I didn't think I would one day be able to build a house. I never thought that Capfin would allow me to achieve this milestone. All I had to do was take my documents to a PEP store and have a cashier email them to Capfin to start processing my application. So, anyone can go to a PEP or Ackermans store to email their documents. Even if they get approved for a small amount, if they're a good repayer, Capfin will increase their credit limits so they can achieve their goals.”
She encourages people to visit PEP or Ackermans stores, submit their documents, and allow Capfin to help them achieve what they might have thought was once impossible. "I also want to thank Capfin because I wouldn't be where I am without it. Capfin keeps approving my loans to help me continue my home improvements," Mavuma says.
